What is Senshi Con?

Senshi Con is an annual anime, gaming, and pop culture convention held in Anchorage, Alaska for fans of Japanese animation and video games.  2020 will mark our 15th anniversary of the convention.

What is an anime convention?

An anime convention is a gathering of fans who love “anime”,  or Japanese animation. Attendees are not limited to this fandom. Fans of American cartoons, video games, and other ‘geek culture’ also attend the con.

When is Senshi Con?

Senshi Con 2020 will be on Friday, September 25, Saturday, September 26 and Sunday, September 27, 2020.

What does Senshi mean?

Senshi means warrior, ninja, or fighter!

What does Con mean?

Con is short for convention.

What is there to do at Senshi Con?

You can shop in our vendor booths, attend or watch our Cosplay Cosplay Contest, meet the guest(s), play video games, watch anime, attend panels, and many other activities.

Where is Senshi Con this year?

Senshi Con is at the Dena’ina Center, located at 600 W. 7th Ave. Anchorage, AK 99501

What are the hours for Senshi Con?

The hours for Senshi Con 2020 are as follows:

Friday, September 25:  3pm – 2 am

Saturday, September 26: 11am – 2am

Sunday, September 27: 11am – 9pm

What if I purchased a ticket and the convention has to be rescheduled due to the COVID-19 situation?

We are currently monitoring the situation and evaluating our options.  At this time, there are no plans to reschedule the convention. If a situation comes up and we end up rescheduling the convention, there are a couple options:
1. If you’re still planning on attending the rescheduled convention, no action on your part is required. Your ticket will automatically be rolled over to the new rescheduled event date.
2. If for whatever reason you will no longer be attending, you can get a refund. Follow the link below for steps on how to request a refund through Universe ticketing.

Where to pick up Badges?

If you pre-purchase your badges online you can pick up your badges at the Dena’ina Center between the hours of 3 pm – 8 pm on Friday, September 25th.  You can pick up any badge that you bought during the Early Bird & Pre-Registration dates.  You can purchase badges at the door too.  For those individuals who pre-purchased passes online but need to purchase Kids badges the day of the convention, you can purchase them in the preregistration line when you pick up your badges.

What is the Fast Pass?

The Fast Pass are for those that like to get in and out quick or get great seats.  Fast Pass holders will be able to enter the con 20 minutes early on all three days (2:40pm on Friday, 10:40am on both Saturday and Sunday).

The Fast Pass is for those that want to get into guest signing, panels, and other events first before general admission (1 day and 2 day passes).  The Fast Pass will allow attendees entry before general admission but after VIP. There is only a limited amount of Fast Pass badges available. Once these badges are gone, they are gone.

What is a VIP Badge?

VIP will get in an hour earlier into the convention than the regular Badge holders (1 Day, 2 Day, and Fast Pass). This means VIPs will get in at 10am on September 28th & 29th (Saturday & Sunday). VIP attendees have early priority entrance to all events, lunch with the guests, receive a VIP gift bag, and access to the VIP lounge.

Where can I buy badges?

Badges for 2020 are available for sale here.  All tickets will be sold through this site, no physical tickets will be available at this time due to the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak.

Can I buy a badge at the convention?

Yes, you can buy your badge at the convention.

Are there ID requirements/an age limit to enter the event?

ID is not required to get into Senshi Con. There is no age limit to enter the con. There is, however, scheduled events that are only for those 18 years and older where IDs will be necessary upon entering. So, if you have an Identification Card, Driver’s license, and/or Military ID you should bring it to certain 18 and over events.  We will have events for 21 years of age and up as well.

What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?

The People Mover will be running all day if you need to know the schedule please click this LINK.  Parking is available on the streets is free during weekend hours. There are parking garages attached to the 5th Ave Mall (JC Penney & Nordstrom), with the cost of parking dependent on the amount of hours you are in the garage.

Will there be dances this year? How much will they cost?

There will be both a Masquerade Dance on Friday night and the Saturday Night dance.  Tickets for both dances will be $10.

Are there places to stay at Senshi Con?

Hotel information will be released at a later date.

Do children get into the convention for free?

Children under the age of 6 can enter for free, as long as they are accompanied by an adult (18+) who has purchased their own ticket.

Can I bring my child?

Absolutely! This is an all ages event. Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times. There are ratings to certain events and events will be monitored by staff. The parent or guardian will not have to fill out a form for their child. But, the parent or guardian will have to fill out a name tag for the child.

Can I bring outside food into the convention center?

Outside food will not be allowed in the Dena’ina Center due to their policies.  The 5th Avenue Mall, along with other nearby restaurants, will be notified about the large quantity of people that will be attending Senshi Con that weekend.

How do I become a vendor for Senshi Con?

Vendor registration is now open.  Vendors from prior years should have already received emails with more information.

What is the Virtual Vendor Hall?

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, we have partnered with our vendors to help them out at a time in which many events have been either postponed or canceled.  We have set up a Virtual Vendor Hall, located here.

How much is a booth at Senshi Con?

When registering for a booth, a $200 deposit is required.  If full payment is not received by May 1, there will be a $50 surcharge added to the invoice. Full payment must be paid by July 31, 2020.

How much space will I get if I purchase a booth?

Your booth space is 10 feet x 10 feet.

Is there another option for people to pay a cheaper booth?

Table swap information will be released at a later date.

What is the Table Swap?

Table Swap is for anyone that wants to sell anything they want to like toys, plushies,  cosplay items, dvd’s, wigs, props, art work, anime, comics, books, novels, jewelry, ect. They cannot sell food or drink items though.

I’m not a artist or a vendor can I buy a table at the Table Swap?

Yes you and any vendor or artist can buy the table; this is for anyone that wants to sell or just get rid of anything.

Is my registration transferable? 

Yes, registration is transferable up until the refund deadline, after that date registration cannot be transferred. Please contact admissions with the updated information: Name to whom the registration is transferred to, email, and phone number. Email admissions at admissions@senshicon.org

Can I update my registration information?

Yes. After the registration is purchased, attendees need to notify admissions in order to make changes to the registration. This does not include an additional ticket. To contact admissions please email admissions@senshicon.org

What is a badge?

The Senshi Con Badge is what you will get once you bring your online registration or physical ticket to admissions. The Senshi Con Badge gets you into the convention.

What is Day Zero?

Day Zero is the traditionally the day before the convention where you can come to the venue and pick up your badge before Day 1. This year Day Zero will include a Table Swap and masquerade dance, and will happen on Friday, September 25.

What time should I get to the event?

Admissions will be open from 3-8pm on Friday, September 25. The doors will be opened at 11 AM on Saturday, Sep 26th and Sunday, Sep 27th.  It’s best to arrive to the event 2-3 hours before because there will be a line.

Will the line take as long as before?

Yes, it will.  Please expect a wait.  If someone is in need of extra attention to get in (handicapped/age), notify staff day of attendance.  Each year, Senshi Con expects an extra 500 people to attend the event.

What is the refund policy?

Refunds cannot be made during Early Bird Registration. Admissions needs to be notified before September 14th to issue refund. After said date, there will be no refunds for pre-registration or registration. There will be no refunds issued to those buying the weekend of the convention.

Will I be signing a waiver before entry?

Registering online and purchasing a badge for the convention is agreeing to our code of conduct and weapons policy. There will be no waivers to sign for anyone.
