Online manga sites

Postby Duralumin » Thu Jul 22, 2010 12:00 am

There's been a big push in the last few months from publishers to get licensed manga taken down off online reader sites, resulting in kind of a shrinkage altogether. For instance, of the two sites I generally used, Mangafox cut out all licensed manga and Onemanga is planning to take their site(sans forums) offline alltogether, which means no manga period, licensed or not.
Since I guess it's technically illegal, I don't know if we want to say where to find licensed series, but since I'll be looking for new ones now, what sites do you guys like to use in general for reading/downloading new chapters and getting updates on your favorite series? I still browse Mangafox for unlicensed stuff I like, but if I don't want to click through page by page or get into a new series with a big backlog, I download by the chapter/volume from MangaTraders and read it whenever.

I became so sad when I heard that onemanga was going down and I tried to finish reading Case Closed but then it closed down before I could. I've been frantically searching for a new site since then.
This is a page-by-page site as far as I can tell and it requires making a account, which means basically giving them your e-mail. But It's completely up to date on Case Closed, so it made me happy.
http://www.animeboy.org/manga_listing/ <-- their manga list. Might be worth looking at at least. Idk if they'll be cracked down for licensed manga or something now but I found it while looking at a random character information on it.

I know. I feel the same way. If the manga is good enough, people will buy copies. Both so they can own it and help the artist.
I'll admit there was one or two mangas I only read online and had no interest in owning the physical copies and there's a few on my list to buy all of them of that I read online (Talking to you Black Cat and Full Metal Alchemist) But I would be just as likely to read the series I read online in a store without buying them.
